Don’t just be thankful

Don't just be thankful.

Be bold.

Be present.

Be curious.

I recently saw this post about how we should't strive to live our days like it's our last.

Instead, live like it's our FIRST DAY.

Be curious, be fun, be present and enjoy what's available for us.

That struck a cord with me, because it shifts our focus out of scarcity into abundance, joy and wonder.

And the scarcity mindset is something that adults with immigrant parents can often struggle with.

So as you spend time with your immigrant parents, your family, your long distance family or friends this holiday week - be thankful and be curious.

Whether it's for a positive interaction or a not so pleasant one, here are some examples of how to shift those thoughts:

  • “Hmm, I wonder why I reacted that way.”

  • “How can I make this interaction more pleasant for me?”

  • “What do I need right now?"

  • “Wow, how did they do that?”

  • “I wonder what is annoying me about this situation?”

  • “How did they make this amazing turkey?

Let me know how these questions go!

I am so thankful you are here, and so appreciative to be able to do this work.

Wishing you a curious, joyous week!

P.S. I am sending this out earlier this week, in hopes this can resonate with you if you spend time with family this week!
